As I sit here reflecting on 2018- I am realizing just how FANTASTIC it was to us. True to my tradition started last year, reviewing my favorite things that happened in 2017, we are arriving at the end of another year. Here are 8 highlights (in no particular order) that made my business- heart flutter:
1. Exceeding 1,000 followers on Facebook.
This is something that may not seem very exciting to most, but it was something that I wanted, and I made it my intention that this was going to be my year. With the help of some faithful followers, we made it happen! Not to mention, we are still growing weekly, and that is great feeling.
2. Making new wedding vendor & marketing friends.
This year was so great getting to meet other photographer friends! We are a part of a pretty cool community that practices the adage of “community over competition.” Through a series of awesome events, I am lucky to call Kelly, Lisa, Stella and James some new friends in the industry. Ashley Burns, I have loved our year of chats and encouragement! Each of you I am grateful for, and so happy that we have opportunities to work with one another.
3. Shooting a wedding in a Castle, in Michigan.
Kelly asked me one afternoon how I felt about traveling to Charlevoix, MI. to shoot a wedding with her at Castle Farms. Ummm yes, please! One of the reasons this was such a big deal to me was because it was my first time traveling solo. It’s funny, because two years ago, I probably would have been a nervous wreck to board a plane on my own. How interesting though how we face our fears to go after the things that we are passionate about. It was a quick, but memorable trip!
4. Shooting a surprise proposal.
This was on my photographer bucket list for awhile! This past August I was able to shoot a surprise proposal at Debeers in Waterside Shops in Naples, Florida. It was so sweet! And she was definitely surprised! I hope to have more of these in my future.
5. Celebrating 1 year of being a full time photographer.
That’s right. This summer I celebrated one year of being a full time photographer in Southwest Florida!! I have loved the roller coaster of a ride as a business owner.
6. Booking weddings for 2019 and 2020.
We have booked weddings for 2019 and 2020 already (yay!!) and of those a few of them are destination weddings! Let’s keep those happy couples coming my way, because goals are set for photographing LOTS of weddings this coming year.
7. Photographing two pregnancy announcements.
This fall with a completely booked calendar, I managed to photograph two pregnancy announcements in the same weekend. I loved being able to be a part of their little secret, and am so excited for their growing families!
8. Photographing a magical engagement session.
This week you got to see images from the magic that happened this October in Philippe Park, Florida. Check out the post as to why is was special here.
THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for making this a year to remember! I feel blessed to do what I love, but even more blessed to know each of you. Thank you for letting me capture your memories!
